Assistance system

We give a warm welcome to Jungheinrich as our most recent client. Within the next year we will develop two innovative projects in close cooperation.

About Jungheinrich:
Established in Hamburg, Germany, in 1953, Jungheinrich looks back on an extraordinarily successful company history. With over 15,000 employees worldwide and operations in more than 36 countries, Jungheinrich is an internationally leading provider in the field of intralogistics solutions.

Calculator for cost of living

ZEIT ONLINE and ZEIT CAMPUS developed a calculator which lets students determine what budget they need to persue their education in various German cities.

Different prices for housing, food and beverages but also different life styles determine an individual monthly budget. Depending on the location the calculator shows the average cost for students. Different criterias like rent, food and spare time expanses are being compared.

The data originates from a social survery of the German federation of students from 2012. More than 15.000 students from over 227 universities participated in order to cover a broad range of social and economic backgrounds.

Smart Data for businesses

Flexible dashboards for companies – Reshin visualizes your data quickly and individually, and it is accessible wherever you are: in the office or mobile.

Reshin is based on Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana – thoroughly tried-and-tested tools for use with big data – and it also offers user administration and data management. You decide which data to import and who has access to it.

There are many use cases for Reshin:

  • Log file monitoring
  • Infrastructure monitoring
  • Excel dashboard replacement
  • Data analysis
  • Internet-of-things
  • Web tracking

In Reshin you have a tool that supports all your visualization requirements.

We have developed industry solutions for publishers which cover everyday analysis needs and allow flexible expansion. For example, the IVW dashboard reduces the effort of daily IVW tracking to just a few minutes. [IVW = German Information Association for the Establishment of the Distribution of Advertising]. And click tracking provides live information about the traffic on your website.

Monitor Lehrerbildung

Transparency in diversity in teacher education: The “Monitor Lehrerbildung” (teacher education monitor) platform provides current information and data about the various arrangements for teacher training within the individual German federal states and at the respective national universities for fact-based discussions and decisions.

The aim of the project is to create the comparability needed for a discussion. It focuses on target groups concerned with teacher education, i.e. politicians, journalists and players from teacher training, universities and ministries.

The project duration is set initially for the next five years. In addition to data updates, several extensions of the portal are set to take place during this period. We have already developed the diagram level as a first step. Thus the data can be retrieved in the conventional table view as text or as a graphic representation.

Project partners are the Bertelsmann Foundation, the CHE Centre for Higher Education Development, the Deutsche Telekom Foundation and the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Association for the Promotion of German Science and Humanities).

ClickCounter

ZEIT ONLINE Counters is the generic term for a series of tracking and analysis tools that capture the relevant online figures in near real-time. For ZEIT ONLINE, they represent a complement to web analytics tools such as Omniture or WebTrekk for its day-to-day work.

The counters are optimized for at-a-glance overviews. The key figures are presented graphically from different viewpoints. The results can then serve as a decision-making basis for further planning of tenders. All counters come with their own web and HTML5 mobile interface and can also be integrated into the CMS via a REST API.

ClickCounter: The ClickCounter counts the number of hits on the editorial pages of ZEIT ONLINE. The source is a web beacon. The hits for the article are evaluated every five minutes. The figures are graphically represented in five-minute intervals for the last hour and in one-hour intervals for the past 24 hours. Access is via a web interface, and programmatic access is possible via a REST API. ZEIT ONLINE also allows for integration into the CMS.

AdCounter: AdCounter counts the number of ad impressions for individual campaigns. The source is a web beacon. Campaigns can be defined in terms of time and be assigned to different channels. Values obtained are compared against expectations. The data are read every five minutes and are graphically represented. Furthermore, they are available down to the channel level. Past campaigns are archived.

TextCounter: The TextCounter gives information about the number of published articles per period/desk/author. The source is a Lucene SOLR index operated by ZEIT ONLINE. The search results are enriched with the corresponding values from the ClickCounter on an article basis.

Dashboard: The Dashboard collects the key figures from the individual counters and displays them graphically and textually. In addition, the current IVW (German Information Community for the Assessment of the Circulation of Media) data are integrated. To that end, the dashboard replaces the IVW Collectorbox at ZEIT ONLINE, which was taken down in 2011.

PM magazine

We designed and implemented the new website of P.M. magazine for Gruner+Jahr. Since then, we have handled the continuous maintenance and further development of the website.

In addition to content from the current issue, the site offers news and background information in the P.M. subject areas such as “man”, “nature” and “technology”.

Relaunch Hebron

We have implemented a new website for the Diakonissen-Mutterhaus Hebron. The Diakonissen-Mutterhaus Hebron is a Christian nursing sisterhood in Marburg.

The website presents the energetic charitable commitment of the sisterhood and is also a channel for communicating its vibrant community work. The website is specifically designed so the sisters can easily post new content themselves.

Carlsen

We provided the Carlsen Verlag with our services for over ten years. Carlsen is part of the Swedish Bonnier Group and is a leading publisher in the children’s and youth literature sector, including publishers of the “Harry Potter” book series.

The centerpiece was the “Carl” title database that we developed. It served the internal publisher’s administration, but also provided the data for the website.

The special feature of the design of the website was, on the one hand, to address the very different target groups (from children and young adult book readers to manga fans) via sub and micro-sites, and on the other hand, to develop a comprehensive concept with recognition value based on Carlsen’s corporate identity.

Diakonie mobile

In 2012 we implemented the website relaunch for Diakonisches Werk Hamburg. Since then we have handled the continuous maintenance and further development. 2014 a mobile version was added.

The website is very user-friendly and its language is easy to understand. The target groups include not only people who are directly looking for advice and help but also users with specialized background knowledge and interested members of the public.

An important component is an address database that features more than 1,200 entries. It can be used to look for appropriate offers of help, for example, or available nursing home spaces in the vicinity.
